Masada and Jerusalem

by on May 7, 2017

Today was the day to go to Masada and like so much of the tour, it was a fantastic experience and gave me so much to think about.

But the jewel in the crown was going UP to Jerusalem. And UP we did go. When we reached the Mount of Olives – which is really a very long ridge that surrounds part of the city – we were off the bus to take a look from a viewing spot. The first thing I saw was the dome of the rock. I actually felt a sickening feeling. We’ve  talked a lot about the end times both here and in Bible classes at Berean. That bright shining golden dome seemed to make me understand for really the first time why our Lord was weeping when He looked upon Jerusalem and saw it’s fate and all the evil that would take place until He comes again. That dome seems to represent the darkness not only of the future but of the present and the past.

Our tour guide asked us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. It has much new meaning for me now and my prayers will change because now the peace of Jerusalem is heavy on my heart and has such new meaning.
